Human rights seminar

To be able to identify human rights violations, you have to have knowledge about what the human rights are. Bergen ICY were lucky to get Tanja Clifford from Amnesty International to come and hold a seminar about human rights. She introduced us to Amnesty International's work and told us some stories about persons whose rights have been severly violated. She also organized some workshops for the participants at the seminar, with the aim to learn about the difficoulties of debate, and to identify situations of human rights violations.

Among the participants were both persons from inside and outside the YMCA/YWCA (KFUK-KFUM), longtime ICYers, and hopefully some new.

Tanja Clifford was very happy to recieve an "olive tree" as a thanks, and we're hoping to work with the Amnesty International again!

For those who were there, and those who missed out.. Give us tips about what you want to learn about next!

EAPPI-blog

My friend Petter is working as an Ecumenical Accompanier with EAPPI in the village of Yanun. So long he has been there for 1 month, with about 2 months left.

Petter updates his blog (89days.no) regulary and is a good writer. So if you would like to learn more about the situation in the West Bank and about the work of an Ecumenical Accompanier, I recommend visiting his blog!

Btw, everything is written in English.
